Hello
Rebecca Tan
About Me
My name is Rebecca, and I am based in Manchester where I live with my husband, two teenage children, and our miniature schnauzer, Lola. I hold a degree in European Studies and began my career in the travel industry in London before moving into youth support as a Connexions Personal Adviser. In this role, I worked extensively with young people facing complex challenges, including sexual violence, forced marriage, offending behaviour, substance misuse, homelessness, teenage pregnancy, bullying, gang involvement, andmental health difficulties.
Following this, I retrained as a primary school teacher and have gained experience across both mainstream and specialist settings, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) provision. This has provided me with a strong foundation in trauma-informed teaching and a deep understanding of the importance of relational practice. Across my career, a consistent focus has been working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, seeking to understand their experiences and provide meaningful support.
Beyond my professional work, I have a strong interest in languages, cultures, and lifelong learning. I enjoy keeping active and spending time outdoors.
