Hello
Ruth Williams
(MBACP Accred., APCCA Practitioner Member, Creative Counsellors Professional Member)
About Me
I'm a pluralistic therapist with training in integrating CBT, TA, Gestalt, Psychodynamic, Expressive Arts Therapies and Ecotherapy into person-centred practice.
I hold a degree in Psychology, have over ten years’ experience of working in education and ten years’ counselling experience. I’ve worked as a counsellor in a variety of contexts, including non-profit, community, retirement facilities, employee support and healthcare. My earlier career was in the education sector with children.
I welcome short- and longer-term work with adults with issues around stress, anxiety, depression, bereavement, loss, loneliness, gender/sex/relationship diversity, neurodiversity, relationships, sexual violence, identity, menopause, ageing, trauma, abuse, and spirituality.
I’ll seek to understand you and your needs, collaborating to develop a way of working together to suit you. Simply talking with a therapist who offers a warm and accepting presence may be enough, but sometimes working non-verbally can support connection and reflection, so I'm also resourced with a variety of expressive media for you to experiment with if you choose. There’s an open invitation to work with images, writing, sand, clay, natural materials, somatic techniques, movement, and sound to explore ideas and process feelings.
I appreciate that people respond differently depending on context. I enjoy working outdoors and I’m skilled in including Nature as a second therapist - attending to what it’s landscapes, weather and life forms offer to enrich and inspire our time together.
